Everyone has heard of the white van man, but how about a red van man? Well because of the credit crunch, these could soon die out because of the European wide shortage of red vans.

The reduction is red vans is down to the credit crunch. Because money is tight from the credit crunch, the overall amount of vans that are being sold is dropping, this has meant that the manufacturers have decreased the amount of coloured vans going into production.

More classic colours like white are being produced instead and as for companies that rely on red vans, they might have to change their van colours to something more traditional.

It sounds like a strange situation, because of the credit crunch, companies are making less coloured vans, however, coloured vans are the ones that people are wanting to buy more of.

If some companies decide to change the colour of their fleet because of the lack of coloured vans, it may be for the greater good because they may decide on a safer colour. This may sound a little odd, but there have been a series of studies that show that white vehicles are in the least amount of accidents. There have been a number of studies to find out which colour is the safest colour, one being a study that showed that white cars were the safest during a lightning storm. Another study showed that a white fire engine was less likely yo be involved in an accident than a red one.

An idea would be to try and claim a reduction in car insurance for a white car because it’s less likely to be in an accident according to the RAC.
